Frequently Asked Questions

What Makes Christopher Wells Construction a design-build construction company?
As a general contractor serving the Bay Area, ours is a start-to-finish approach. We specialize in residential construction projects — from whole-house remodels and kitchen restorations to bathroom renovations and room additions.

What makes a job goes as planned regarding timing, budget and customer happiness?

It’s primarily about listening and accountability:

  • Maintaining an organized job site and employing a hardworking team
  • Creating a practical building plan and then following through
  • Delivering satisfaction: Our job is done when you are satisfied with the work
  • Listening to your needs and determining the best way to go about achieving them

How do you ensure a home renovation is successful?
We concentrate on the details—large and small. We focus on the big picture, creating a kitchen, bath, or room addition that reflects our standards of high quality, but each small step, every decision and detail, is always on our mind.  As a licensed general contracting company serving San Francisco, we collaborate with architects, interior designers, structural engineers and other building professionals who share our commitment to excellence.

Are you local to San Francisco?
Chris Wells has lived and worked in San Francisco since 1976. He knows the city’s neighborhoods like few other residential contractors.  He has a lot of experience in the permitting process—ensuring that your house plans get approved quickly. This can save time and energy. Chris and his team have mastered many of the other challenges of working in San Francisco.

What Communities do you serve?
Christopher Well Construction works in San Francisco and neighboring bay area counties: Marin, Sonoma, Napa, San Mateo and Santa Clara.

Are you a licensed general contractor?
Christopher Wells has been a licensed general building contractor since 1984. His California Contractor’s license is 442445.

Why is it important to be a licensed general contractor who is bonded and insured?
A licensed contractor who is bonded and insured offers a higher level of service, safety and protection on the job so you can focus on what matter most: your home remodeling project.

What is EPA Lead-Safe Certified?
It’s a certification to ensure safe practices if a contractor is doing construction repairs in your home. Practices such as sanding, cutting and demolition can create hazardous lead dust and chips, which can be harmful to adults and children.

Do you do structural repairs or maintenance?
Yes, a home of any age needs upkeep and repairs occasionally. We offer a cost of work plus percentage fee service, especially when the problem takes some detective work to figure out. We fix leaks in roofs, address plumbing and heating issues, dry rot, storm repair and insect or rodent damage. We do electrical, repairs on drywall, cabinets and other household repairs.
